The European Commission has published the CBAM certificate price for the third quarter of 2026: €82.32/tCO₂e. After two quarters around €75, the price has risen for the first time — up €7.04 (9.4%) on Q2. The last quarterly price follows on 4 January 2027; from 2027 the Commission moves to weekly prices.

Q3 2026 CBAM certificate price: €82.32/tCO₂e — the first clear rise of the year

The third quarterly CBAM certificate price is out: €82.32/tCO₂e for Q3 2026. After €75.36 and €75.28 in the first two quarters, the price has moved for the first time — up €7.04 (9.4%).

Period Price (€/tCO₂e) Published
Q1 2026 75.36 7 April 2026
Q2 2026 75.28 6 July 2026
Q3 2026 82.32 5 October 2026

The price is the weighted average of the auction clearing prices of EU ETS allowances in the relevant quarter, so the rise reflects higher auction prices over Q3. The Commission publishes the price quarterly throughout 2026, and each quarter’s price applies to imports in that period.

What it means in practice: for a product with embedded emissions of 1 tCO₂e per tonne, the certificate cost moves from about €75 per tonne in Q2 to about €82 per tonne for Q3 imports. For goods declared with default values the gap widens further: default values generally sit above verified actual data, and every tonne of the difference now costs more. The return on collecting actual data has gone up with this quarter.

Timeline: the last quarterly price of 2026 (Q4) will be published on 4 January 2027. From 2027 the Commission publishes weekly prices, and from February 2027 all certificates are bought on a common central platform. The move to weekly prices removes today’s “fixed cost for the quarter” predictability, so importers should budget 2027 accordingly.

We keep the current prices and the calculation method on our certificate price page; you can see the cost effect for your own product with the CBAM cost calculator.
